Delivering for Point Douglas

Since being elected in 2018, I've worked on more than 40 major capital projects secured for Point Douglas, representing a total investment of over $10 million in our neighbourhoods. That's on top of the significant additional funding I've helped secure city wide through my work on the Community Services portfolio.

Between 2022 and 2026 alone, $6,438,500 has been invested directly into completed projects across Point Douglas. Here's a look at what that investment has delivered.

Completed Projects (2022–2026)

Northwood Community Centre Play Structure & Basketball Court A partnership with Buckets and Border and the Winnipeg SeaBears Basketball organization brought new recreational infrastructure to Northwood. Investment: $689,000

Keewatin Street Active Transportation & Multi-Use Trail A major investment in safe, active transportation connecting residents throughout the neighbourhood. Investment: $4,000,000

Giizhigooweyaabikwe Park Basketball Court & Water Fountain New recreational amenities added to give residents a place to gather and stay active. Investment: $502,500

Stephen Juba Park Fitness Trail A new fitness trail supporting an active, healthy lifestyle for residents in the area. Investment: $325,000

Fairgrove Park Cycling Skills Track Developed in partnership with Trails Manitoba, giving young and new cyclists a safe place to build skills. Investment: $205,000

Gainsborough Cove Tot Lot Play Structure A new play structure for the youngest residents in Gainsborough Cove. Investment: $250,000

Secondary Plan for South Point Douglas Long term planning work to guide future development and investment in South Point Douglas. Investment: $250,000

Alderman John O'Hare Play Structure A new play structure honouring the neighbourhood's history while serving today's families. Investment: $114,000

North Nomads Football Field Upgrades Completed in partnership with Football Manitoba, improving field conditions for local athletes. Investment: $45,000

Old Market Square Artificial Turf New turf installed to keep this well used public space in great condition year round. Investment: $100,000

Meadows West School Outdoor Learning Space Developed in partnership with the school's Parent Advisory Council to give students a hands on outdoor learning environment. Investment: $20,000

Ka Ni Kanichihk New Campus Expansion Supporting the expansion of this important community organization's campus. Investment: $30,000

North Winnipeg Parkway Trans Canada Trail Lights New lighting along the Trans Canada Trail, improving safety and accessibility for residents using the pathway. Investment: $50,000

Pleasure Rink & Flood Lights at Garden Grove Park Upgraded lighting and rink facilities so residents can enjoy the park safely, even after dark. Investment: $10,000

Dr. Jose Rizal Statue Bronze Marker, Waterford Green Commons A bronze marker installed to honour Dr. Jose Rizal's legacy within our community. Investment: $20,000

Honorific Street Naming: Monte Nathanson Way An honorific street naming recognizing Monte Nathanson's contribution to our community.

These completed projects sit alongside a full slate of upgrades currently underway across Point Douglas, including major investments at Komagata Maru Park, Burton Cummings Community Centre, Kinver Park, Garden Drive Park, Eldon Ross Pool, Tyndall Park Community Centre, and Woodsworth Park.
